NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) is always an adventure. Held twice a year, the NAMM in Anaheim is the largest music industry convention in the country, while Summer NAMM in Nashville hosts less than half the exhibitors.
December is always a flurry of activity for Voyage-Air Guitar. Between getting the design for the display booth perfected, setting meetings with our customers, and organizing the artists’ appearances, who has time for the holidays? Historically held the second week in January, NAMM is symbolic for getting Voyage-Air off to a running start for the New Year.
It’s always a great opportunity to reconnect with our customers, artists and fellow exhibitors. Our booth hosted performances by many of our endorsers. This year it included Mario Sebastian (Marc Anthony Band), Jared Hara, Tilky and the Brigade, Steve Noonan and numerous drop-ins such as Dorian Michael, Jackson Cooke, Tito Negron and our own Vice-President, Michael Ferrucci.
Our Press Conference on Saturday featured our UK distributors that flew all the way from England! Thanks to Jon and James, it was great to have them with us. Creed Bratton from NBC’s ‘The Office’ stopped in to do a song and Jared Hara performed after an informative talk by his manager, Harlan Lansky. You can learn more about Creed at www.creedbratton.com and more about Jared and his journey at www.jaredhara.com.
Many artists stopped in to check out our guitars including Robert David Hall from CSI (Dr. Robbins and the DeComps) Bob Weir from Grateful Dead and various other artists from bands such as Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham and one of my personal favorites, Crowded House.
Our legendary Suite Party took place on Friday night and what a zoo! We had over 125 people in the suite. Sporting a pool table and a deck with a view to die for, we set up a stage and had live music playing throughout the evening. You can catch a bit of it on the attached video. I’d say a good time was had by all!
